Occasionally, aircraft need a surface restoration – a polish that reduces wind resistance (making them more “slippery”), removes oxidation (sealing the metal) and restores the paint finish.

For years, ACE has sponsored Superior Shine Auto Detailing to do their magic on important, historical planes. Freedom One is no exception. The team traveled to Arizona and completely covered every inch of her outer surface, buffing out and bringing back the intended finish and look of the aircraft. The result? Looking way younger than her years of service. And helping her stay that way for years to come.

FREEDOM ONE   Formerly Air Force One for Presidents JFK and Johnson, Freedom One landed in Iran on Jan. 20, 1981, to bring home the remaining 52 American hostages after their 444 days of captivity. The military badge is VC-137B; we know it as a Boeing 707.

Here’s how another 707 Air Force One looked in 1987, when President Ronald Reagan used her at the Venice Summit. (photo:Wikipedia)
